BaubleBar, a new online retailer, wants to take the guesswork out of shopping for fashion jewelry. The idea all started when the founders, Amy Jain and Daniella Yacobovsky, were over-worked investment bankers and overwhelmed by the selection of costume jewelry in the market. "It's easy to bond when you are working 100 plus hours a week and surrounded by men who don't understand the value of a shopping trip to Saks to clear your head!" they said. Both felt there was a great chasm in the shopping world, no go-to destination for cool jewelry, but a high demand for the outfit-making pieces. "The right statement piece can really update your whole look and eliminate the need to invest in a whole new wardrobe." After a stint at Harvard Business School — and with the help of investor-turned-fashion backer Julie Macklowe — they set out to fill the void. Featuring two collections — trend and classic — the prices range from a mere $20 up to $250, making it easy to justify your latest whim. And just like our hopes for our jewelry box this season, the site is planning expansion in the new year, including more products, a monthly guest collection that will provide a space for up-and-coming designers to showcase their work, plus a place for brides to stock up on their bridesmaid gifts with just one easy click. As for what we want to find in our stocking come Christmas morning? BaubleBar’s navy cluster cuff from their classic collection, please!
