Fashion Week Shoes: Christian Louboutin x Mary Katrantzou Spring 2012

One of my very favorite parts of ever season’s runway shows is getting to see how the venerable Christian Louboutin collaborates with small or independent designers to create signature shoes for their runway shows. As we’ve discussed previously, many young or indie labels don’t have the design experience or manufacturing capabilities to create their own shoes, so a number of shoe companies step in every season to help them out, and Louboutin is among that group.

Christian Louboutin x Mary Katrantzou Spring 2012 includes lots of variations on two basic themes: First, a clear-strapped sandal dotted with colorful spikes atop a mirror-patent heel, which from a distance, gives the visual of the spikes comes straight out of the foot. The second option is a strappy Mary Jane that often combines mirrored patent and python for a mix of serious and sassy that works out to be more wearable than you’d think, and both shoes present fun spins on the Louboutin details that we all know and love.
